How to connect Claude to QuickBooks (step by step)
Claude can read your QuickBooks Online company once you connect it. It takes a few minutes, and you choose what it's allowed to do.
What you need
- A paid Claude plan (Pro is enough) and the Claude desktop app.
- A QuickBooks Online login with access to the company you want to connect.
Steps
- In the Claude app, open Customize in the sidebar, choose Connectors, and search for QuickBooks. The official connector is made by Intuit.
- Click Connect. Your browser opens; confirm you started this from Claude.
- Sign in to Intuit and pick the company. Intuit shows exactly what Claude will be allowed to do. Read the list, then click Connect.
- Allow the browser to reopen Claude. The connector now shows as connected.
Tip: sometimes the connector looks connected straight away, and Claude asks you to sign in the first time it actually uses QuickBooks in a chat. That's normal: click Connect in the chat and finish the Intuit sign-in.
A first question to ask
Using QuickBooks, give me a quick picture of [business]: which invoices are still unpaid, who owes us, and which bills are due next.
Claude pulls the accounts receivable report and your open bills and answers in plain English, with every number coming from QuickBooks.
Keep it safe
- In Customize › Connectors, open QuickBooks and set anything that writes or deletes to Needs approval.
- Xero works the same way, through its own connector.
